"At my firm, ORR Design Office, Inc., we design site-specific high-end custom homes throughout the Northern California region. We often design on parcels that require on-site septic systems and associated leach fields. It is not uncommon for us to encounter poor soils that have in the past required very expensive systems to treat waste water. Or, we find that more conventional septic systems end up consuming too much available land area that limits our creative options for a home and landscape design on that particular parcel."
