FEMA Basecamp
Butte County
In the aftermath of the devastating 2018 Camp Fire, Caltech Environmental Construction, in collaboration with our sister company NexGen Septics, played a pivotal role in the recovery efforts for the Paradise, California community. We were entrusted with the design and implementation of an advanced wastewater treatment system for the FEMA Basecamp, a temporary housing facility established to accommodate 1,500 personnel dedicated to the town's reconstruction.
Our team installed a state-of-the-art 100,000-gallon-per-day aerobic treatment unit (ATU) from Presby Environmental, Inc., renowned for its efficiency and minimal environmental footprint. This system effectively manages both gray and blackwater, treating up to 99% of contaminants before safely reintroducing the water into the ecosystem. The installation not only addressed the immediate sanitary needs of the basecamp but also exemplified our commitment to sustainable and innovative environmental solutions.
